New Writing Exercise #33
devised by Margaret Wilkinson

MIRROR MIRROR
Linda Anderson Browse workshops

#1 Consider some cataclysmic settings for a mirror, and describe what might be reflected: in a flood, in a war, a drought, a famine, an epidemic.

#2 Imagine some alternative uses for a mirror: teasing a dog with its reflection, checking to see if a person is still breathing, starting a fire, preparing cocaine powder, identifying a vampire.

#3 Think of a specific mirror at some specific time in your past. What slice of life did it reflect? Who looked into it – and what did they see?

#4 Conduct an interview with the mirror of a famous person. What secrets does it impart?
